Health Effects of Chernobyl
A quarter of a century after the nuclear disaster in Chernobyl, its effects are still being suppressed, played down and covered up. The nuclear power lobby and politicians systematically scale down the dangers of low radiation exposure and its risks in their focussed propaganda. This is currently also the case in Fukushima; the operating company is repeatedly denying the consequences of their own measurements.

Responsibility in Practice
"Responsibility" in the fields of technology and science are often restricted to seminars on ethics and codes of ethics and are too seldom to be found in practical application. We present examples from projects initiated by young engineers, mostly students, who have actively integrated ecological and social criteria into their project planning and implementation. For example: "Blue Engineer", "Engineers without Borders" and "Micro Energy international".

From Urania to the Classroom – How Can We Educate People About the Risks of Nuclear Energy?
This workshop discusses possibilities for reaching a larger audience on the risks of nuclear power.
Visits to schools, talks for colleagues, networks of existing information portals, reader's comments in newspapers and further ideas will be examined regarding their efficacy and realisability. The aim is to create easily accessible info material (flyers, powerpoint presentations, etc.) and a catalogue of publicly effective measures which can be put to use locally.

Iodine and Disaster Protection in the Event of a Nuclear Accident
The following (and further) questions will be discussed:
- How does potassium iodide work?
- When do I have to take potassium iodide?
- How do I get the timing right?
- Do I have to take potassium iodide because of Fukushima?
- Why are regular iodine and thyroid hormone tablets insufficient?
- What if I don't take potassium iodide in the event of an emergency?
- How do I get potassium iodide tablets?
- Why is it better to already have them at home?
- What is the correct dosage for me as an adult?
- What is the correct dosage for my children and grandchildren?
- How often and for how long do I take them?
- Am I among the group of people that should not take potassium iodide?
- What if I have a bad reaction to the the potassium iodide tablets?
- What if I am already older than 45?
- Do I need the tablets if the nearest nuclear power plant is over 30km away?
- Does potassium iodide protect me from all radiation dangers?

CELEBRATION OF THE PRESENTATION OF THE NUCLEAR-FREE FUTURE AWARDS 2011
Since 1998, Nuclear-Free Future Award honours people from all over the world who, as individuals or in groups, have undertaken exemplary work for a future without nuclear weapons and nuclear power. The prizewinners, in the categories Resistance, Education and Solutions, receive US$ 10 000 Dollar each. In addition there is an honorary award for lifelong commitment. Internationally renowned musicians accompany this annual ceremony, that travels around the world, taking place in a different location every year. IPPNW and NFFA have been jointly hosting these events since the year 2000. The award-giving ceremony usually takes place in autumn but this year it has been moved forward to April to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl catastrophe.
This year's laureates are the Russian activists Nadezhda Lvovna Kutepova and Natalia Manzurova, ZDF-Reporters Barbrara Dickmann and Angelica Fell, the German physicist Hans Grassmann, the Austrian activist Hans Stockinger
and the australian physician Helen Caldicott.
